Albion Department of Public Safety will pay certified police officers to attend the fire academy in order to gain your Firefighter I and Firefighter II certifications.

When applying for a position with the Albion Department of Public Safety an applicant must:

  1. Complete and successfully pass the M.C.O.L.E.S. pre-test (both written and physical agility). Information on the testing can be obtained by contacting Lt Eric Miller or by contacting M.C.O.L.E.S.,  located at 7426 N. Canal Rd., Lansing, MI. 49224, (517)322-1946.

  2. Applicants should apply with the City of Albion Human Resources Department:
    112 W. Cass St. Albion, MI 49224
    (517)629-5535.
     

  3. The applicant should complete the Application and Personal History Statement and return it to the Human Resources Department. This may be accomplished in person or by mail.  Applicants should ensure that all information is complete when returning paperwork to the Human Resources Department.

Processing Applications

The Human Resources Department processes the applications in three stages:

STAGE ONE:

This stage consists of an oral interview with ADPS personnel and the Human Resources Director.


STAGE TWO:

Applicants successfully completing Stage 1 will be subjected to a background investigation. This investigation will be conducted by Public Safety personnel in person and by mail. Past employers and personal references will be checked, along with all other aspects of a candidates personal and professional life.

STAGE THREE:

Candidates who pass the background portion of the process will be extended a conditional offer of employment.  This offer is contingent on the candidates' satisfactory  completion of a psychological profile, physical examination, and drug screen.
